Review: Browning Black Label 1911-380 - Guns in the News Whenever this pint-sized 9mm comes up in conversation it is almost always concerning self-defense and the tiny pistols that are commonly chambered to fire it. These guns are typically uncomfortable to shoot and are so snappy that you wouldn't know that the .380 ACP generates less energy and what should feel like less recoil.
Browning .380 ACP Black Label Medallion Pro 1911 Review John Moses Browning made all of his designs very size-efficient. Scale that same design down to a .380 ACP, and the Browning is just darn thin. But not so thin you can't get a good shooting grip on it. In case you're wondering, the Browning's slide is just .775" wide. The wood grips at their fattest are 1.1" thick.

Browning 1911-380 Review - Gun Digest The rust-resistant 4¼-inch target crowned barrel and crisp 5-pound single-action trigger pull definitely aid in the accuracy department, especially compared to other 2- to 2½-inch barrel subcompact .380 carry guns. The 1911-380 is also reliable. During several hours at the range, the gun never malfunctioned a single time. Gun Review: Browning 1911-380 Black Label Pro Speed .380 ACP Pistol The Browning 1911-380 full-size model with standard barrel. (Jason Bayne for TTAG) Though the grip of the Browning 1911 is 85% smaller than JMB's 1911 grip, it feels great in my hand. The grip angle is 100% the same as the original, so the pistol points and handles just as naturally as its big brother. 1911-380 Pistols - Browning The Browning 1911-380 pistol is the Right Design, the Right Size, with the Right Features. 1911 browning 380 review. Browning 1911-380 Handgun Reviews | Browning Owners It is very lightweight, very little felt recoil. I could fire this little thing all day long. Fairly accurate right out of the box, little bigger than golf ball size group at 15 yards. A great semi for concealed carry for folks in the land of the free where it can be carried. Pictured below my S&W .45 for comparison. And again in my hand. 1911-380 Pistol Overview - Browning But this greatly improves accuracy and function -- yet the 1911-380 only weighs 3-5 ounces more than subcompacts. Follows up better. It is the perfect size to reduce recoil and barrel jump, and allow for more comfortable shooting, more control, and more accurate follow-up shots. Conceals better. A Low-Recoil Compact .380 Pistol for Carry - The Browning 1911-380 The 1911-380s features that stood out for me were its very light weight of 16 ounces, its thin profile, the slim grips with the beavertail, the low bore axis, the excellent feel in my medium-sized hands, the excellent accuracy at 15 yards and less, the light trigger press in single action, and its similarities to my favored 1911 design. Review: Browning Black Label 1911-380 - An Official Journal Of The NRA Even though compact, the Browning 1911-380 still fits into the "box" for the testing protocol of a full-size pistol, so we placed some Allen's EZ aim targets at the appropriate distance of 25...
Review: Browning 1911-380 | The Liberal Gun Club Though those advantages come with a cost: this is NOT a pocket pistol. Still, anyone who may be recoil shy but still wants an adequate self-defense round should check out the 1911-380. It is small enough to conceal well, and follow-up shots are very quick and easy to control. One thing I really didn't like were the sights. Browning 1911 .380 Compact Version - any experience with this? The Browning 1911-22 and 1911-380 are not "big guns" by any stretch of the imagination. Here's a size comparison between a standard 1911, the full-size 1911-22/380, and compact 1911-22/380. They're basically the same scale as a Colt Mustang, just the "government" and "commander" models if the Mustang is an "officer". 5. New From Browning: Browning 1911-380, The Right 380 While I feel that 380 is an under appreciated round, it excels in tiny gun or in somewhat larger guns as they tend to be lower recoil. To me, this gun is to large to fit that nitch. And to me 1911 type guns are range toys, not a gun I would carry or keep out for defense. As such, this would likely be a fun target gun.
